The impacts of home and industrial laundering, as they pertain to energy consumption and microplastic release in to the global environment, have gained attention due to potential risks to human and ecosystem health. Novel chemical additives designed for synthetic fiber application provide a unique approach to reducing negative environmental impacts in laundering. This presentation reports on quantitative techniques for comparing impacts on drying time, lint generation, and fabric life on a variety of treated fabric blends.
