The European man-made fibres (MMF) industry, though smaller globally, is specialized and vital to various sectors. Valued at €10.3 billion in 2025 with over 430 companies, it has shown strong adaptability amid many changes. However, the industry faces challenges such as economic pressures, high costs, trade issues, and evolving EU regulations, all within a complex geopolitical context. As the EU updates its institutional framework, the industry-represented by CIRFS-calls for a true level playing field to ensure competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability in Europe and beyond.
