Industrial hemp offers a versatile and sustainable resource that benefits both people and the planet. By integrating small Himalayan farmers and modern agricultural techniques, Chlorohemp ensures traceable, high-quality fiber production. Our patented cottonisation process paves the way for circular economy solutions—from yarn spinning and textiles to bioplastics and hemp-based construction materials.

Industrial hemp holds immense promise as a versatile, sustainable resource. Chlorohemp has developed a comprehensive seed-to-shelf supply chain in the state of Uttarakhand, India, harnessing the region’s unique Himalayan terrain and cultural heritage to reinvigorate hemp cultivation. By partnering with small and marginalised farmers, we enable stable income opportunities while preserving a centuries-old crop through modern agricultural practices. Our initiative also encompasses leasing farmland and deploying certified European hemp seeds to ensure both quality and scalability. Central to our process is the proprietary cottonisation technique, executed in two primary stages: (1) cleaning, opening, and cutting the hemp fiber, and (2) advanced cottonisation. This patented process yields cottonised hemp suitable for blending with cotton and lyocell (30–40% hemp content) to produce premium textiles in the 24–30 count range. The resulting yarns meet the needs of large Indian spinners looking to incorporate natural and sustainable fibers in their product lines. Further strengthening our circular model, the hemp hurd—an abundant byproduct—is up-cycled into bioplastics (through injection and compression moulding), construction materials (hemp bricks and hempcrete), and paper. By providing traceability and transparent sourcing, we cater to growing consumer and industry demands for ethically produced, environmentally responsible products. Our presentation at the Global Fibre Congress 2025 will highlight the transformative potential of hemp-based solutions, demonstrating how a traditional Himalayan crop, modern farming methods, and innovative fiber processing can converge to create a resilient, inclusive, and future-forward textile industry.
