re.solution offers a chemical recycling technology for polyester-containing textiles that is characterized by a low chemical and water footprint. The process runs on green energy, is designed to recycle fibre blends and handle common textile impurities. Providing sustainable alternatives particularly to virgin plastic, re.solution diverts valuable resources from landfills and incineration.

re.solution´s approach to chemical polyester recycling utilizes enhanced hydrolysis, a water-based method ideal for mixed polyester textile waste. Currently, this process generates one tonne of hazardous salt waste for every tonne of recycled polyester, negatively impacting sustainability. By employing re.solution’s electrochemical method, chemicals are replaced with electricity. This eliminates salt waste and significantly reduces the water and chemical use, as well as CO2 emissions. The patented technology facilitates hydrolysis processes and promotes sustainable chemical recycling of mixed textile waste. As a spin-off of RWTH Aachen University, the start-up´s mini plant with a capacity of 0.5 kg/h is located in Aachen. The start-up is currently building a larger plant to further validate the game-changing electrochemical recovery of the polyester-monomers on a larger scale.
