FreyZein GmbH is pioneering the development of monomaterial, sustainable textile solutions that integrate material science, ecodesign, and circular economy principles. The TerraTech and TerraDown project aims to deliver high-performance, recyclable, and biodegradable alternatives to traditional petrochemical-based fabrics. TerraTech will advance waterproof, breathable cellulose-based textiles with optimized hydrophobic treatments for technical apparel and industrial use. TerraDown will enhance biodegradable aerogel insulation with superior thermal efficiency and moisture control properties. Both solutions are designed to eliminate microplastic pollution and support zero-waste end-of-life processing. The project will establish small-scale production lines and validate materials through accelerated lifecycle analysis and real-world testing. Collaboration with industry partners will secure early adoption and feedback, ensuring market relevance. Regulatory certifications including OEKO-TEX and LCA will be obtained to strengthen market entry potential. The short project timeframe focuses on validation and market readiness, laying the groundwork for scaling in 2026. FreyZein’s vision is to lead a transformative shift toward fully circular, eco-friendly textile innovation.
