By choosing Perlon’s innovative filament solutions it is possible to reduce the energy consumption of the down-stream manufacturing process. Possible applications can be found for example in the manufacturing of oral care devices or during the lifecycle of paper machine clothing.

Sustainability can be measured and achieved by the applications of different technologies. It is possible to reduce the energy consumption throughout the different steps of the manufacturing process, by choosing the right filament type suited for the specific application. For example it is possible to increase the energy efficiency of the thermal tufting process of an tooth brush head, by the application of a filament with a lower melting temperature. Energy saving for pulp and paper producer can be also achieved by reducing the friction of forming fabrics on the paper machine. Here it is known that, depending on fabric and filament type, up to 10% of energy savings are possible. These specific filament types of course have to maintain the same performance properties known and expected by the customer. For an oral care device, the filaments still have to offer a high bending recovery rate, correct stiffness and provide the user with the known comfortable “mouth feeling”. In the application of paper machine clothing it is required to maintain the very good resistance to abrasion and outstanding dimensional stability in wet conditions.
