FOREST is the framework for resource, energy and sustainability treatment in paper production. With the help of technologies such as the asset administration shell and simulation models, it will be possible to build a digital twin of the production process at component level and to visualize, balance and allocate energy consumption to a product. In FOREST, we will also define standardized interfaces between different modules as well as process models, such that the process simulations can be easily used to determine more sustainable process states without having to run tests on the real plant. FOREST will be a fundamental tool for contributing large parts of sustainability reporting and the digital product passport.
