With the inauguration of the Industry First Sustainability Hub in India & China, Coats is leading the change in evaluating and implementing sustainable materials in the production of sewing threads. This initiative focuses on developing sewing threads that adhere to principles of circularity, utilizing sustainable, renewable, and bio-based materials. Key achievement includes obtaining the Cradle-to-Cradle Material Health Certificate for Coats EcoVerde, a range of recycled polyester threads, as well as introducing Coats EcoCycle and Coats EcoRegen, designed for disassembly, and suited for cellulosic garments, respectively. As the fashion industry faces increasing pressure to embrace sustainability, the importance of using eco-friendly sewing threads cannot be overstated. The latest EU regulations underscore the need for garments to be designed with durability, recyclability, and full traceability, posing significant challenges to apparel manufacturers. Coats has risen to meet these challenges by developing a variety of solutions, including threads made from post-consumer recycled materials, textile waste, sustainable pulp, biomaterials, and those aimed at reducing microfiber pollution. The establishment of the Sustainability Hub signifies Coats' commitment to driving innovation in sustainable fashion and fostering collaboration within the supply chain. At the Global Fiber Congress 2024, Coats will showcase its latest advancements in sewing threads & share customer pilots results, demonstrating its dedication to shaping a more sustainable future for the fashion industry. Sustainable fashion and circular economy are incomplete if the apparel and footwear are not sewn using sustainable sewing threads.
