Textile recycling is a vital frontier for a more sustainable world. Automated textile sorting was the missing link in the process. The start-up of the first of its kind industrial plant for automated sorting and recycling of textile waste at Nouvelles Fibres Textiles shows perfect case of successful industry collaborations with ANDRITZ as central hub of this network and an innovative approach of combining the two areas textile sorting and recycling in one process.

Textile recycling is a vital frontier for a more sustainable world. Clothing alone accounts for around 10 percent of greenhouse gas emissions from human activity, and much of the pre- and post-consumer waste generated by the textile industry ends up incinerated or in landfill. ANDRITZ is at the core of the movement to provide industrially and economically viable solutions that bring circularity to the world of natural and synthetic fibers. The start-up of the first of its kind industrial plant for automated sorting and recycling of textile waste at Nouvelles Fibres Textiles shows perfect case of successful industry collaborations with ANDRITZ as central hub of this network. The innovative approach lies in the combination of these two areas in one process. It allows to provide precise recycling feedstocks for different downstream recycling processes. This results in a higher material quality and thus improving the economic viability of textile recycling.
