Cellulosic fibers produced through Viscose or Lyocell processes are facing to limits due to their chemical hazard process, their limited recyclability and economical cost. Harnessing and valorising local biomass such as plant and protein-based polymers represents a sustainable and sober alternative path for the development of new cellulosic and proteinic fibers and filaments for textile applications. In France, the European center of innovative textiles (Ceti) is spearheading the development of a wet spinning platform dedicated to plant-based and protein-based materials. The platform aims to pioneer R&D facilities and processes with greener technologies while maintaining performance to respond to the textile markets.
