Modern hygiene articles like diapers, sanitary napkins or tampons are complex constructions that have to fulfill a manifold of requirements to meet the constantly rising expectations of customers. This includes technical parameters and processability, but also comfort in use and sustainability. New fiber types and concepts allow constructions that open up levels of performance up to now unknown for nonwovens made from cellulosic fibers. Moreover, they allow combining sustainability with cost-efficient production. During this talk we will present the well-designed properties of different cellulosic products and how they can be combined to supplement each other to get to tailor-made properties and solutions for the absorbent hygiene sector. By this, a toolbox for cellulosic fibers is created that allows the creation of sustainable hygiene products which can truly compete with up to date fossil-based solutions.
