Flocus is pioneer in providing the textile industry with a naturally sustainable, performant, and regenerative material that was available before but forgotten. Flocus™ is the trademark for kapok fibers, innovating the supply chain of kapok from farm to brand by industrializing the kapok market making it scalable, hence available for more applications since 2016.Kapok is a natural fiber found in the pod of the kapok trees which is a regenerative tree that grows without the need of irrigation water, fertilizers or pesticides. The fiber itself hold many properties such as buoyant, hydro repellent, anti-moth, anti-mite, silky and very soft, hypoallergenic, highly thermoregulating ecce cc. With Flocus’ new technology and patent a new life was given to kapok fibers opening the doors of the textile market with raw fibres as it was used in ancient times, but now also with yarns, fabrics and nonwovens for insulation.
Flocus is introducing social responsibility in the industry which has been overlooked for hundreds of years helping locals regain dignity in this field. We have been planting trees since 2016 but we officialised it in 2021 with the opening of the non-profit foundation KRAF (kapok Regenerative Agriculture Forestry) which operates entirely with donations from Flocus and some of its clients. KRAF donates trees to local communities while teaching them how to successfully practice poli-cropping with kapok trees and also guaranteeing them a stable income.
