Protection in humanitarian crisis and border incidents for forces of rescue and protection has become a major issue during last years. IRACURA project, leaded by TEXTIL SANTANDERINA in collaboration with AITEX, looks for new textile solutions with multi-signature reduction capacity, through the incorporation of nanoparticles (NPs) and nanostructured materials on multilayer textile structures. In this project, which is cofinanced by the Spanish Ministry of Defence (SDG-PLATIN), the main objective is to validate multifunctional properties of new developed fabrics in various representative scenarios. Near, short, and thermal infrared environment mimicking, and acoustic and RADAR spectral signature reduction are the main fabric functionalities that IRACURA seeks, without forgetting to preserve the usability, comfort, and protection of users in extreme circumstances (waterproof or flame-retardant fabrics, for instance).
