The principle Spunbond technology and the special characteristics of Oerlikon Nonwoven Spunbond Technology developed for Geotextile Nonwoven Applications is outlined in this paper. The main advantage of the integrated in-line production of high-end products from chips to roll-good is not only the full control of all processes along the entire value chain of converting polymer chips into nonwoven, but the economical savings related to this direct processing as well. The paper highlights the most important technological features ensuring efficient production of high-performance nonwovens. One example of an integrated production line for 6m wide PP-Needlepunched Spunbond Nonwoven is shown and the main requirements (space, labor, energy) as well as the related production capacity are provided. The paper closes with a product benchmark comparing lab-test and production results with market standard data.
